The Portuguese edition of the famous biennial Brazilian festival, Rock in Rio, transformed Lisbon's Parque Tejo into the legendary Cidade do Rock. Over four days filled with music, magic, and connection, dozens of international artists, such as Linkin Park, Katy Perry, Rod Stewart, and Cyndi Lauper, took turns across four stages, delivering extraordinary performances to the audience.
On the Palco Mundo, the festival's main stage, PROLIGHTS fixtures were integrated into the rig to meet the high demands of a massive outdoor space. The production's lighting design was created by WDB, with Terry Cook serving as Lighting Designer, while the setup was handled by the rental company Pixel Light. The PROLIGHTS fixtures were supplied by SLS, the brand's Portuguese distributor.
Positioned along the base of the LED walls, 36 Astra Beam120IP units played a key role in the daily closing show. Powered by a 120W phosphor laser source and featuring an IP65 rating, these moving heads showcased power and versatility on the impressive outdoor stage. The source's compact emission surface, combined with a custom optical system, generated a dense, parallel, and high-impact beam, creating the striking blue and pink light displays that enchanted the audience at the end of each day.
Once again, PROLIGHTS fixtures proved fully capable of meeting the rigorous demands of a large-scale outdoor festival production, playing a key role in delivering a high-impact visual design on one of the world's most prestigious stages.
