PROLIGHTS lights Ocean Court at the National Maritime Museum in London

Ocean Court, the glass-roofed atrium at the heart of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London, has been equipped with a new event lighting system featuring PROLIGHTS fixtures. The installation, delivered by A.C. Special Projects (ACSP) in partnership with AV solutions specialist GVAV, has transformed the versatile space into a flexible, high-impact setting for the Museum's busy events programme while remaining sympathetic to its architecture.

At the core of the new rig is a versatile package of PROLIGHTS fixtures, selected for their output, colour performance and efficiency. The installation includes PROLIGHTS Astra Profile400, delivering even illumination, gobo projection and texturing across the atrium floor and staging areas, allowing the technical team to move easily from clean, camera-friendly looks to more dramatic show states.

The Astra Wash37Pix units deliver powerful, uniform washes for stages and presentation zones, with pixel control available for more dynamic and engaging effects. Completing the system, the Solar 48Q fixtures are used for architectural colour, accent lighting and wall washing, adding depth and atmosphere throughout Ocean Court while maintaining excellent energy efficiency and colour consistency.

The PROLIGHTS fixtures are fully integrated within the new grid and control infrastructure, offering the Museum's technical staff flexible presets and fast reconfiguration between different event formats. The system is designed to be intuitive for in-house operators while remaining fully capable for external production teams who require more advanced programming and show control.

Professional photographs of the completed installation were captured by ACSP's Matt Stridgen, who commented: “It was a real pleasure to work with GVAV and the National Maritime Museum team on this project. Ocean Court is such a distinctive space, and the brief called for a lighting and rigging system that could combine flexibility, performance and reliability within its striking architectural setting. The goal was to deliver a fully integrated, user-friendly solution that could support a wide variety of events, from corporate functions and private dinners to dynamic live performances, while remaining sympathetic to the aesthetics of the venue.

The new PROLIGHTS system ensures that Ocean Court can support the National Maritime Museum's growing events calendar with a flexible, efficient and visually impressive lighting solution.
